Dyslexic Centre Australia is for people with learning differences. We are also here for parents and educators and any one else who wants to know how best to guide these truly intelligent, creative and unique people.
Dyslexic Centre Australia is not like any other dyslexic centre. We know what it is like to be dyslexic because we are dyslexic and our kids are dyslexic. We are not just here to help, we aim to dispel the myths regarding the way dyslexia is viewed in Australia.
It is now a known fact that about half of all self made millionaires are dyslexic. it is also known that many, many dyslexics end up in our penal system. The single biggest factor that determines the success or otherwise of a dyslexic is diagnosis. We therefore will be providing all schools with the opportunity to learn more about this and to understand how to screen these kids.
We give seminars that help parents and teacher to “see” the world and the classroom through the eyes of a dyslexic kid.
We take a holistic approach to learning differences. This means that we consider the whole body and mind to be effected and therefore the whole body and mind should be considered when addressing these issues.
Dyslexic Centre Australia has qualified expertise in all areas of teaching from 6 weeks old to adults, from tuition, to teaching, to lecturing.
This centre follows the Dawn Matthews approach to teaching and helping kid and adults with learning differences.
We plan on providing the following,
- Basic APPROPRIATE educational material for dyslexics and other kids with learning differences.
- Help for teachers on teaching, tutoring, screening and much, much more.
- Courses for teachers and teacher’s aids to help them understand the best ways to teach dyslexic children.
- Diagnostic assessments and screening for all learning difficulties that establish exactly how a person learns with reports and individual recommendations an learning programs.
- In school seminars so as to provide teachers with an insight into what its like to be dyslexic in the classroom.
- Summer camps for out of town kids and their families who live outside Perth.
- Parents groups and a parents Blog that will offers support and advice for carers and parents.
- Kid’s groups and a kids Blog where these kids get a chance to meet other kids like themselves and learn from each other.
- Wellness. We will also be addressing health and wellbeing through natural cures, nutritional information, highlighting known toxins that effect a child’s concentration and wellbeing, through counseling and therapies.

- An expert IT practitioner with specialist knowledge in learning difficulties

And we all agree on one thing:
What is most important is in unlocking the gift within the child. Allow the child to reach their magnificent potential. Instead of always concentrating on what the person can’t do, find out what the kid is really good at doing. This unlocked potential, is what will be their life long careers.
